HI, I'M VIANEY

IT'S LIKE DNA, BUT WITH A V

ABOUT ME

I'm a Chicago-native who grew up in Logan Square. I've always been passionate about food (shout out Food Network) and art (thanks to my oldest sister). My favorite hobbies include weight-lifting, crocheting, and listening to podcasts and YouTube video essays about fashion, pop culture, and feminist theory.

I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I learned and applied the fundamentals of food science. Afterwards, I joined a UC Berkeley graduate program where I mastered the art of digital marketing and storytelling. I am currently a beverage technologist at Synergy Flavors. My day-to-day include reverse engineering, matching flavor profiles, and developing drinks based on project parameters such as cost and nutritional requirements. One of my favorite aspects of the role is working cross-functionally with the marketing department and using their trend reports to inspire new concepts for customers. My latest creation was a lychee lemon refresher, which gave an exotic yet familiar citrus profile with a rosy twist. I always keep an eye out for new trends on supermarket shelves and bring them back to the beverage lab to evaluate with my team.

Over the years, I have cultivated a variety of skills and feel prepared to take the next step in my career and pivot into marketing, where I can combine my food science knowledge and storytelling abilities to drive growth and increase brand awareness.
